Book Review: Stuck with You

Original review written 6/19/22

What's it about?

Sadie is smart a civil engineer ready to save the world...as long as she has her croissant when she needs it. Sure, she's superstitious but is that a bad thing when leads her to the love of her life? Maybe not. But what if he's not the love of her life?

What if he's got other agendas?

Sadie meets Erik in the time of need and lucky her! He swoops in to save her...and she wasn't sad about it at all! Until she learns who he really is, that's when things get complicated. But nothing gets more complicated then Sadie finds herself stuck in an elevator with no one else but Erik! And after weeks of avoiding him.

Favorites:

Favorite Character: Sadie was my favorite. I know, kind of predictable, but let's be honest, there weren't a lot of characters in this novella! Sadie was a characters that I'm coming to expect from Ms. Ali Hazelwood. She's smart, witty, funny, vulnerable and socially awkward. She's also loyal and strong.

Favorite Part: At the coffee shop and after. Pretty much, the whole chapter. I just felt like that's when I felt like I got to know them the most but it was also fun, humorous and endearing in a nerdy, awkward sort of way that I totally appreciate.

Other Thoughts:

I've come to realize that I think I'm a fan of Ali Hazelwood her self. Of course, I read the Love Hypothesis (and, like so many, loved it!) so I was excited to experience her novellas, this being the second I've read. They have not disappointed. I truly enjoy her humor and I love that her female leads are smart and holding their own in male dominated worlds!

I've recently read her novella Under One Roof and at the end, I felt like I would have loved to see it as a whole book. It was okay as a novella, but it didn't feel like enough and I think it could have been better as a novel. I expected to feel the same way after reading "Stuck with You" but I didn't. I felt like it was perfect as a novella! The jumping back and forth between time lines (current time and a few weeks ago) was easy to follow and understand and, between the time lines, I felt like we got the story in a well told, well paced manor.

If I had to something to "complain" about, I think it would be the little we see of any character other then Erik and Sadie. There are a number of characters that we get a glimpse of and it's alluded to how much they influence and mean to Sadie we don't get to see much of that. But, other then that, I feel like the novella was l done really well and I had a lot of fun reading it!

What do I rate it?

I give this book a

6.5
